The Bowen Backflip - A Special Report

Special report this week from ‘The Traitist’.

It seems members of the Gillard government want to get in on ‘Celebrity Splash’, last week we saw the perfect execution of the Bowen Backflip. Chris Bowen and the Labour Party have been working on the…

Weather forecast for an Arab Spring

The Syrian Electronic Army have been found responsible for the hacking of the Associated Press’s Twitter account. The group falsely stated on the AP’s Twitter feed to their millions of followers that there had been two bomb blasts at the White House which had injured President Obama. This caused chaos on Wall Street resulting in $US136.5 Billion being wiped off the stock market by ‘Bots’ that predict market change and have been designed to react quicker than humans can. This has resulted in a lot of talk in the media about the new threat of ‘Cyber Terrorism’ and what this will mean in our current digital world. But no-one seems to be dealing with the fact that a computer program could possibly fuck up and wipe out wheat prices world wide resulting in mass anarchy all because some ‘Sultan’ had a stroke.

The Syrian Electronic Army has also been responsible for hacking the twitter accounts of 60 Minutes (USA), NPR Radio and interestingly  BBC’s Weather service. Its seems the group was not happy with the weather stations long-range forecast of the Arab Spring.

More food news from China, 904 people have been arrested over ‘illegal food’ crimes. The crimes include, injecting meat with water to make it weigh more and using chemicals on the meat to pass off Fox and Rat as Mutton. Well I suppose with a nation of billions you may not have to worry about ‘return customers’. Some other great food swindles from China include Child Formula that contained nothing but starch and the old favourite, selling recycled household waste as Cooking Oil.

After sectarian violence in Myanmar (the country we ignorant bastards have been calling Burma for years) the government has held a commission on the racial tensions in the countries west. The area is currently under a form of segregation against the minority muslim population who have even been denied medical treatment at some hospitals by Buddhist Doctors and Nurses. One of the recommendations that came out of the commission was to introduce ‘family planning programs’ which can be a great step forward for women’s rights in giving them more power over their lives. But it should be available for all women in the country and not used as described in the report ‘to stem population growth amongst minority muslims’.  Family planning for population control  is the perfect example of ‘Politically Correct Racism’.

James McCormick of Langport, England has been charged with fraud over 7,000 fake bomb detectors he sold to numerous nations. He made 50 million pounds off the useless devices that were really just novelty golf ball detectors. The radio aerials used in the devices were made in the US and cost just twenty dollars each, McCormick was selling his novelty ‘bomb detectors’ for $5,000 each to Romania, Georgia, Niger, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Iraq was a good customer to the Englishman, he made $38 million off the war-torn nation alone, the devices are still being used at check points to this day.. There seems to be more quality control on pool fences than there is on weapons of warfare.

McCormick wins ‘The Traitists’ quote of the week regarding his product, ‘It does exactly what it’s designed to. It makes money’. That it did James, and this is why the world will never see peace, because war is way to profitable.

Israel has conducted airstrikes in Syria against targets it says were weapons they did not want falling into the ‘wrong hands’. The U.S. has defended Israels right to ‘defend itself’. Thats an interesting method of  ’defence’, from inside the borders of another country. Although this could be seen as an act of war Israel has not made a declaration of war to Syria as yet. Just as Japan’s declaration was not received by the U.S. before Pearl Harbour during World War Two. A move that was not defended by the U.S.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) held their annual convention in Texas recently where Chief Executive Wayne Lepierre asked ‘How many Bostonian’s wish they had a gun two weeks ago?’ He also said the people of Boston were ‘locked behind their doors’ during the man hunt for the bombers. I’m sure the Boston Police would have loved thousands of untrained armed  to the teeth citizens roaming the streets looking for a possibly armed suspect with dark hair at night.

The NRA boss is missing the real threat he could be using to drum up fear and misinformation to help his illogical cause to keep an assault rifle in every living room. The real danger lurking in America is not Terrorists but Toddlers. Yes, Toddlers. More people have been killed in the U.S. this year by Toddlers than Terrorists. Perhaps the NRA should suggest all toddlers have a pistol hidden in their nappies to defend themselves, maybe a luger in the lunchbox could prevent the next school massacre or even a pump action shotgun with your pop-corn at the movies. Whatever solution the NRA come up with I’m sure it will involve more guns.

Drugged up Black Jesus

Papua New Guinea’s only female MP Loujaya Toni has made some bold statements on ways to curve sexual assaults by prison inmates. She has suggested that some prisoners should be released on bail to have sex with their wives as a means of reducing sex crimes. And high risk prisoners should be drugged to ‘lower their sexual aggression’. But this idea is not to curve sexual assaults amongst prisoners, its to curve sexual assaults on women when prisoners escape. Last month 39 prisoners escaped from a PNG prison including an infamous cult leader and rapist known as the  ”Black Jesus’ (which was reported in Issue #2 of ‘The Traitist’, ‘Flimsy Justice’).

The MP’s ideas are like trying to teach cows road rules to stop them being hit by cars rather than just constructing a fence. Historically governments around the world have found the best way to stop sexual assaults by escaped prisoners is to prevent escape in the first place.  ’The Traitist’ also asks, is letting prisoners out of prison the best way to prevent escape?

Tension is mounting over Syria, the U.S. and Israel state they have more evidence that Assad has used Sarin against civilians and rebels. Sarin was used in the Japanese subway attacks in ’94 and ’95, it causes victims to froth at the mouth and eventually choke to death. US secretary of defence Chuck Hagel has said if Assad has used chemical weapons he would be crossing a ‘red line’ and it ‘violates every convention of warfare’.

The fog of phosphorus and depleted uranium must have concealed the ‘red line’ in Fallujah.

Sea World in Orlando, Florida has become a publicly listed company. But with a history of fatalities at the park and a long running public debate over education vs entertainment, is the marine park a safe bet on the share market? It was only three years ago that 40 year old Orca trainer Dawn Brancheau was scalped and dismembered by a whale named Tilikum. Dawn was the third trainer to be killed by the Orca amongst other incidents where trainers were held under water and attacked by Tilikum and other whales.  The park claims the performances by the whales jumping and splashing are purely for educational purposes. But you don’t need to go to Sea World to learn that Orca’s are called Killer Whales because they are very intelligent killers. Obviously you missed an important educational lesson when you get in a pool with one of the worlds most vicious hunters. Have we learnt nothing from ‘Free Willy’?

In Fukushima, Japan they are having  more problems with rats chewing through wires and causing faults with cooling systems. The Traitist has suggested rounding up Radioactive Cats from the surrounding area to deal with the rodents.

Mining magnate Clive Palmer has stated publicly he wants to be Prime Minister of Australia. He re-launch his ‘United Australia Party’ which he said will contest every seat across the country, so far he is the only candidate.  During the press conference he said ‘I could go off and stay in Monaco, have a nice drink and forget about this country, but we’ve got more commitment to Australia, to your children, than anyone else’. Well that’s nice you have that option because 99 percent of Australians don’t, the majority of Australians can only afford to go as far as Bali and I doubt you can really forget about this country when you only have a few nights on the beach in Kuta. And does Clive Palmer really have more commitment to the children of Australia? More commitment than their parents who feed them, clothe them, educate and love them for at least 18 years?

Clive and his new party have been compared to Bob Katter and his Australian Party and also Pauline Hanson who has also been rumoured to be making a return to politics. Compared to these contenders Tony Abbott will look like a brilliant libertarian. Some Liberal Party Mp’s have said he will only win votes amongst the ‘rednecks’ in North Queensland. Lets hope the Liberal Party dont smash all the windows in their glasshouse.

Israel has shot down a Drone from Lebanon, this is not the first drone shot down by the Israeli Military. Drones or ‘Standoff’ weapons as they have been subtly described have become standard for western powers like Israel, the U.S. and European nations for surveillance and also extra judicial killings. But with the technology becoming more widely available more ‘rogue’ states have been using them, which has caused western countries to complain like children who don’t want anyone else to use their toys. Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu said of the drones from Lebanon ‘I view with great gravity this attempt to violate our borders’. Interestingly when Palestine, Syria, Egypt and Lebanon complained about the violation of their borders they did not receive any sympathy from Israel. Some have even asked if the Israeli leader has any idea what a ‘border’ is?

Irish Rhinoceros

This week in Dublin three Rhinoceros heads were stolen from a museum. A guard was tied up by a gang who then made off with the heads, the horns are worth up to $630, 000 on the black market. But this is not a lone case of grand theft horn. Earlier in the month a man was arrested at the Natural History Museum of France when he attempted to use a chainsaw to cut the tusks off an Elephant Skeleton. Surprisingly it was not the noise of the chainsaw that set the alarms off.

The high demand for the supposedly medicinal horns and priceless Ivory has alerted burglars across Europe to the possible gold mines of massacred and stolen beasts sitting in every city. But The Traitist asks, can you really be charged for stealing stolen goods?

Guantanamo Bay has been in the headlines lately with lots of leaked reports on the prisons deteriorating conditions. Guards are reported to not have control and prisoners are being surgically fed everyday due to mass hunger strikes. One guard said of the prisoners ‘They don’t like us, that’s the general mood’. Not surprising seeing that most inmates have not had a charge laid or trial in eleven years. The prisoners can at least be spared the humiliation of being forced to re-enact Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’.

Riots in Kuwait after an opposition leader was arrested for insulting the emir. This is nothing new in Kuwait there are over ten opposition MP’s and tweeters currently in prison for slagging off a head of state. Kuwait has become the envy of Margret Thatcher admirers all over England.

The disastrous fertilizer plant explosion in Texas fell on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Waco disaster. In 1993 76 people died including 20 children during a siege involving a notorious cult leader. Waco is not far from the recent disaster, in fact the injured were treated at Waco hospital.

The type of fertilizer produced at the plant was the same that was used in the Oklahoma bombing and in Oslo in 1993. The plant had not had a safety assessment since 1985. This is a disaster no one could have predicted.

Recently The Traitist reported on thousands of dead pigs and ducks floating down a river in  Shanghai. This week in the city of Yanshi, China authorities are investigating 410 pigs and 122 dogs that have died overnight. Authorities not sure if local chemical plant is to blame or whether China is experiencing a spate of biblical plagues. Which must be confusing for a traditionally Buddhist nation.

In India a Bollywood star has been given time to finish off working on some films before he goes to prison for weapons charges from 1993. The judge may have felt that being in a Bollywood film was punishment enough.

The Boston bombings have caused a spike in violence and suspicion of Muslim Americans even before the suspect was identified.. The first suspect the police looked into was a Saudi man who was seen on CCTV running away from the scene. He was interrogated and his apartment searched, it turns out he was just running away from a bomb blast just like everyone else. CNN and Fox News ran the story and helped stir the hysteria. But when it turned out the suspects were of European decent the media sources started referring to them as ‘Radicals’ rather than ‘Terrorists’. They started using terms like ‘They look like us’ and ‘They look normal’. Normal like Timothy McVeigh.

In Brooklyn an off-duty Police Officer shot her husband, one year old child and herself on the same day as the Boston bombing. Doesn’t even get reported.

Looks like things may get even hotter in Syria even on a day when 500 dead civilians and rebels found on the outskirts of the capital Damascus. With the Rebels getting closer, Israel has shown concern over Assad’s Chemical and Anti-Aircraft  weapons falling into the ‘wrong’ hands. It may even become a scenario similar to the fall of Berlin at the end of WW2 when Russia and the U.S. raced to get their hands on Hitlers weapons, technology and scientific experiments. Syria may look like an old western movie, a ye old land grab between America, Israel, Saudi Arabia and possibly Russia staking their claims for a just cause. Will they use the old excuse of exporting democracy  or maybe taking down an evil tyrant or maybe the old favourite weapons of mass destruction claim. All sounds a bit to familiar, surely they wont go down that path.

But recently Israel has said it has evidence Assad has already used Chemical weapons on civilians and rebels. The U.S. has stated if Assad has used chemical weapons he would have crossed the line and it would be a ‘game changer’. They’ll put up with a lot of genocide  before they cross that line.

French Camel Stew

The Malian government has gifted French President Hollande with a Camel for Frances help with a Jihadist problem. Hollande entrusted a local family to look after the Camel for him, as he wished to put the animal in a Zoo. But unfortunately the family must not have understood the President and they Kill the animal and made a stew.

The terribly embarrassed Malian Government has promised ‘a bigger and better looking’ Camel for the President. The French President said ‘I will use it as much as i can as a means of transport’. Hollande has already been criticized for his interesting ideas on transportation. So no-one knows for sure if he will be riding his Camel to work each day.

In Germany four naked protesters heckled Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian Leader Vladamir Putin as they were walking through a crowd. The young women were eventually tackled by some very lucky security guards. The two European leaders did not seem too distressed by the situation, in fact Putin seem to be enjoying it. He was photographed with a big smile and giving the naked women two thumbs up. Putin seemed very enthusiastic about their cause.

In Tupelo, Mississipi a Circus Elephant has been shot in a Drive-by shooting incident. No-one else was injured it seems the animal was the only target. The would-be game hunters are still on the run. If caught they could be charged with a federal offence, Asian Elephants are Endangered and therefore protected. In the U.S. it is illegal to kill or harm an endangered animal, but obviously its not illegal to cover them in make up and force them to balance on small objects.

The Circus animal has survived and is doing well, but the incident has been yet another symbol of the ever present gun debate in the U.S. But it seems that even if the Elephant in the room has been shot, the gun lobby can still ignore pure logic.

And in more Gun related news, in Texas a man shot himself at a Nascar race at Fort Worth that was sponsored by the National Rifle Assosciation (NRA). When members of the NRA were asked about the tragic irony of the situation. They replied ‘Whats irony?’

Flimsy Justice - Issue one of ‘The Traitist’

Welcome to the first issue of The Traitist.

In Bangalore India, the local police have come up with a somewhat flimsy way of dealing with naughty motorists. They have put up cardboard cut outs of Police Officers on dangerous roads around the city to try and deter motorists from being naughty.

This brilliant idea was actually stolen from another country, no not another country that needs to cut corners when it comes to Policing. They learned from the masters of surveillance, the U.S. and Britain.

But their ingenious plan began to fall apart when one of the cut outs was stolen. The Bangalore Police have now started bringing the remaining TWO cardboard cut outs in at night. And hopefully when it rains, they don’t want to be seen getting soft on criminals.

Prison break in Papua New Guinea is not all that it seems. 39 prisoners escaped in all, including the notorious ‘The Black Jesus’ otherwise known as Stepen Tari, who was in prison for rape and leading a cult. But the prisoners corrected the media and members of the Papuan Law enforcement that this was not an escape at all. It was a protest, a protest against the poor conditions in the prison. What better way to plead your case, to excercise your democratic right to free speech.

The Police did manage to capture three of the escapees and return them to the prison. One of these prisoners did not feel his voice had been heard, so he escaped again. Sorry, protested again. He is a true martyr to his cause.

In Shanghai, 1000s of dead pigs float down the river, followed by thousands of dead Ducks. Now there is reports of Bird Flu coming out of Shanghai……

Samoan Airlines are the first International Airline (they fly to American Samoa) to introduce Pay as you weigh. Talks of this move going globally predict more flights out of Japan less flights out of Texas.

New Research out of Britain on the possibilities for Magic Mushrooms to cure severe Depression have been stopped becuase it is illegal to experiment on prohibited substances in the UK. The funding for the research was granted by the UK Medical Research.

Psilocybin is the chemical in Magic Mushrooms that gives the hallucinogenic effect. Researchers believe it could help patients that suffer from Depression that do not respond to other treatments. The UK courts have decided this is too dangerous so they gave the army depleated uranium instead.

‘Eagle Bear’ live art piece i did a while ago at Barcode in Wollongong.

These are the panels i painted last year for the ‘Viva la Gong Festival’ in Wollongong.
The works were inspired by the natural beuty of our region and the Environmental Activists who fight to protect it.
I dont care if people call me a ‘hippie’ or ‘greenie’ in fact i take it as a compliment. What i do not like is how people who are concerned for our natural environment are cast aside as weidos and outsiders. It baffles me when people who consider themselves patriots have no respect or any compassion to their natural surrounds.
There is nothing more patriotic than respect and love for the Indigenous People, Plants and Animals of this great land.
